La nostra Puglia si prepara a vivere un evento storico: dal 7 al 9 novembre 2025, la Terra delle Gravine diventerà il palcoscenico della prima edizione di Puglia by UTMB, portando nel cuore della Puglia il prestigioso circuito internazionale UTMB World Series.
Un evento che fa storia
Per la prima volta, il Sud Italia ospita una tappa del circuito mondiale più prestigioso del trail running. I numeri parlano chiaro: quasi 3000 atleti provenienti da 73 Paesi diversi attraverseranno i nostri territori, correndo tra gravine millenarie, borghi rupestri e paesaggi mozzafiato. Un dato che ci riempie di orgoglio. Il 25% dei partecipanti è donna, segno di uno sport sempre più inclusivo e appassionante.
Cinque percorsi per scoprire la nostra terra
L’evento propone cinque distanze diverse, ognuna pensata per svelare un volto differente della nostra magnifica terra. Tutti i percorsi convergeranno verso il traguardo comune di Castellaneta Marina, abbracciati dal mare Ionio:
I Sassi di Matera – 140 km (3.800 m D+)
La regina delle distanze: un viaggio epico che collega le gravine pugliesi ai celebri Sassi di Matera, sfidando i runner più coraggiosi con un dislivello impressionante.
Le Maioliche di Laterza – 85 km (2.000 m D+)
Un percorso che celebra la tradizione ceramica locale, attraversando le profonde incisioni delle gravine e i borghi che custodiscono secoli di storia.
Castellaneta Underground Trail – 50 km (1.000 m D+)
Un tuffo nel sottosuolo della Puglia, tra grotte, canyon e quella dimensione “sotterranea” che caratterizza la nostra terra.
Ginosa Rivolta Trail – 35 km (350 m D+)
L’occasione perfetta per chi vuole avvicinarsi al trail running senza rinunciare all’emozione di correre nella natura selvaggia delle gravine.
Costa Verde Trail – 10 km (50 m D+)
Un assaggio accessibile a tutti, perfetto per famiglie e principianti che vogliono vivere l’atmosfera dell’evento.
Campioni da tutto il mondo sui nostri sentieri
Sui 140 km si preannuncia una battaglia appassionante tra il britannico Andy Symonds e un gruppo di italiani di altissimo livello: Simone Corsini, Davide Cheraz, Riccardo Pianesi e Mauro Rota. In campo femminile, la polacca Paulina Krawczak e l’italiana Melissa Paganelli guideranno un gruppo internazionale di atlete straordinarie.
Gli 85 km vedranno invece protagonisti lo svedese Petter Engdahl e l’altoatesino Andreas Reiterer, in quella che si preannuncia come una delle gare più combattute dell’intero weekend.
Perché è importante per Gravina e la nostra terra
Questo evento rappresenta molto più di una semplice competizione sportiva. È un’occasione unica per mostrare al mondo intero la bellezza autentica della nostra Puglia: quella delle gravine profonde e misteriose, dei borghi rupestri scolpiti nella roccia, della macchia mediterranea che profuma di timo e rosmarino, delle masserie che punteggiano il paesaggio.
Tremila atleti e le loro famiglie scopriranno i nostri canyon naturali, assaggeranno i sapori della cucina locale, dormiranno nelle nostre strutture ricettive e torneranno a casa portando con sé il ricordo di una Puglia diversa, selvaggia e incontaminata, lontana dalle rotte turistiche più battute.

An Event Making History
For the first time, Southern Italy hosts a stage of the world’s most prestigious trail running circuit. The numbers speak for themselves: nearly 3,000 athletes from 73 different countries will cross our territories, running through ancient gravine, rock-hewn villages, and breathtaking landscapes. A fact that fills us with pride: 25% of participants are women, a sign of an increasingly inclusive and exciting sport.
Five Routes to Discover Our Land
The event offers five different distances, each designed to reveal a different face of our magnificent land. All routes will converge toward the common finish line at Castellaneta Marina, embraced by the Ionian Sea:
I Sassi di Matera – 140 km (3,800 m elevation gain)
The queen of distances: an epic journey connecting the Apulian gravine to the famous Sassi di Matera, challenging the bravest runners with impressive elevation gain.
Le Maioliche di Laterza – 85 km (2,000 m elevation gain)
A route celebrating local ceramic tradition, crossing the deep incisions of the gravine and villages that hold centuries of history.
Castellaneta Underground Trail – 50 km (1,000 m elevation gain)
A dive into Puglia’s underground, among caves, canyons, and that “subterranean” dimension that characterizes our land.
Ginosa Rivolta Trail – 35 km (350 m elevation gain)
The perfect opportunity for those who want to approach trail running without giving up the thrill of running in the wild nature of the gravine.
Costa Verde Trail – 10 km (50 m elevation gain)
An accessible taste for everyone, perfect for families and beginners who want to experience the event’s atmosphere.
Champions from Around the World on Our Trails
The 140 km promises an exciting battle between Britain’s Andy Symonds and a group of top-level Italians: Simone Corsini, Davide Cheraz, Riccardo Pianesi, and Mauro Rota. In the women’s field, Poland’s Paulina Krawczak and Italy’s Melissa Paganelli will lead an international group of extraordinary athletes.
The 85 km will feature Sweden’s Petter Engdahl and South Tyrol’s Andreas Reiterer in what promises to be one of the most contested races of the entire weekend.
